Paul, our Chief Sales Manager, and his wife were kindly invited to experience the Bottomless Brunch at Mi Abuela’s Table on Saturday, and what a brilliant afternoon it proved to be.

Set within the impressive surroundings of Moorswater Lodge in Liskeard, the venue feels far more like being welcomed into someone’s home than visiting a standard restaurant. Guests dine together around a grand table, creating a warm and sociable atmosphere that feels relaxed, authentic and refreshingly different.

The brunch includes three courses of traditional Mexican food, with vegan and vegetarian options available.

The standout dish was the Birria, a beautifully slow-cooked beef full of depth and flavour. Margaritas, including a spicy version, and mimosas flowed for 90 minutes, offering excellent value at £42 per head.

Service was friendly and personal throughout, with time to mingle before dining. A spontaneous piano performance from a fellow guest, alongside a touching poetry reading from the delightful young server, added something truly special to the afternoon. Chef Juan later joined everyone to share the story behind his grandmother’s recipes, and his passion for authentic Mexican cooking was unmistakable.

They also have The Mexican Garden open for summer outdoor dining, alongside Friday to Sunday brunches and a Saturday evening five-course experience. With three boutique B&B rooms onsite, it could easily become a memorable weekend escape.

Overall rating? Brilliant. We would absolutely return and highly recommend giving it a try.
